# AI Workspace

> The hub for working on your shop's site: site state, AI agents, MCP, skills, changes and deployments in one place.

**Workspace** is the panel section where you work on your shop's site — alone, with the built-in ItemShop agent, or with your own AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others). Every change, whatever its source, lands in one draft and takes the same route to publication.

## Seven tabs

| Tab | What you do there |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | Site state: what is in production, the last build, how many changes wait in the draft and from whom, the active agent, the last MCP call. Quick actions (ask the AI for a change, connect an agent, upload a site, new MCP token) and the activity timeline. |
| **Agent** | Pick the agent you work with and get a ready configuration: steps, MCP file, instructions file, zip bundle. See [Connecting agents](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/site/agents.md). |
| **MCP** | MCP server address, connection test, tool-group switches, workspace tokens and the call log. See [MCP](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/developers/mcp.md). |
| **Skills** | Catalogue of [agent skills](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/developers/agent-skills.md): enable, disable, copy the install command. |
| **Changes** | Changed draft files with author and diff; commit the draft as a revision, discard everything or revert a single file; revision history; transferring changes via GitHub, CLI or zip ([Custom code](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/site/custom-code.md)). |
| **Deployments** | Builds with logs, previews and production, promoting and restoring, publishing rules. See [Build & hosting](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/site/build-hosting.md). |
| **AI Agent** | Chat with the [built-in agent](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/site/ai-editor.md) with a live site preview beside it (desktop / phone), model picker and token counter. |

## Workspace token

An agent connects to ItemShop with a **workspace token** (prefix `iswt_`). It is a shop API key with a list of scopes, created in **Workspace → MCP → New token** or in the **Agent** tab. You see the token **only once** — afterwards you can only revoke it.

| Scope | What it allows |
| - | - |
| `site:read` | Read site files, revisions, builds and deployments. |
| `site:write` | Edit files, run builds and previews (includes `site:read`). |
| `catalog:read` | Read products, categories and servers. |
| `catalog:write` | Create and edit products (includes `catalog:read`). |
| `orders:read` | Read orders. |
| `discounts:write` | Manage discounts and vouchers. |
| `stats:read` | Read stats. |

A token never has more permissions than you do: if you lose a permission or access to the shop, the tokens you created stop working. Workspace settings, tokens and the GitHub connection can only be changed in the panel — a token cannot issue other tokens or raise its own permissions.

## MCP tool groups

In **Workspace → MCP** you set a ceiling per group: **Off**, **Read** or **Write**. The agent gets the lower of two levels: the group ceiling and its token's scopes.

| Group | Default | Required scope (read / write) |
| - | - | - |
| Site files | write | `site:read` / `site:write` |
| Builds and deployments | write | `site:read` / `site:write` |
| Product catalogue | read | `catalog:read` / `catalog:write` |
| Orders | off, read-only | `orders:read` |
| Discounts and vouchers | off | `discounts:write` |
| Stats | read, read-only | `stats:read` |
| Appearance (`site.config`) | write | `site:read` / `site:write` |

Orders contain buyer data, so the group is off by default and has no write mode.

## Publishing rules

In **Workspace → Deployments** you choose how changes reach players:

| Setting | Default | Effect |
| - | - | - |
| Preview on every commit | on | Every new revision gets a build and a preview address. |
| Production requires approval | on | Agents (MCP, CLI, AI) cannot promote to production — you do it in the panel. |
| Auto-deploy from a git branch | off | A green build from the connected GitHub branch goes straight to production. Requires turning off production approval. |

## Activity timeline

Every action on the site is recorded with its source and author. Entries are kept for 90 days.

| Source | Example |
| - | - |
| `panel` | Manual file edit in the panel. |
| `ai` | The built-in agent changed `src/App.tsx`. |
| `mcp` | Claude Code updated `site.config.ts` via MCP. |
| `cli` | `itemshop deploy` from a team member's computer. |
| `git` | Sync with a GitHub branch. |
| `upload` | An uploaded zip file. |
| `system` | A platform event, e.g. a repository being disconnected. |

## Who has access

Team members with the `site:read` permission can see Workspace; people with `site:write` can change and publish. See [Team](https://andcze.mintlify.site/en/shop/team.md).
